Item INVESTIGATIONS ON THE DYEING ABILITY OF SOME REACTIVE TRIAZINE AZO DYES CONTAINING TETRAMETHYLPIPERIDINE FRAGMENT(2017-01-01) Miladinova P.M.; Lukanova V.R.Three monofunctional reactive triazine dyes, containing tetramethylpiperidine fragment and an identical chromophore, but different reactive group (chlorotriazine or allylamine/allyloxy), were used for dyeing cotton and wool with the application of different methods of dyeing: exhaust, pad-batch and printing. The degree of exhaustion and fixation, as well as the fastness properties of the dyed samples in respect to washing, acidic and alkaline perspiration, dry and wet rubbing and light fastness were assessed. The influence of the dye bath temperature on the percentage of exhaustion and color intensity was determined. It was found that the monochlorotriazine reactive dye may be used for dyeing cellulosic textile materials, while the most suitable were the methods of exhaust at 80°C, pad-dry, pad-dry-steam, cold pad-batch and printing. The dyes containing an allylic group were found applicable to wool dyeing with the application of the method of exhaust at 80°C. The investigated dyed samples showеd good light fastness properties.Item On the synthesis and application of some mono- and dis-azo acid dyes(2016-01-01) Miladinova P.M.; Vaseva R.K.; Lukanova V.R.The present paper describes the synthesis of two novel mono azo dyes of a yellow colour and four novel dis-azo dyes of orange and red colours. The dyes are obtained by the commonly accepted procedure - diazotization and coupling reactions. The compounds are isolated and characterized by TLC (Rf values), UV/Vis and IR spectra and conformed by proton NMR spectroscopy. The dyeing performance of the dyes obtained is evaluated on wool fabrics where their fastness properties of washing, rubbing and perspiration are determined in view of their exhaustion and fixation. The results obtained show good to excellent fastness properties on wool.Item SYNTHESIS AND APPLICATION OF HOMOBIFUNCTIONAL REACTIVE DYES WITH CHLOROACETAMIDE GROUPS(2022-01-01) Miladinova P.M.; Videnova A.A.; Georgieva N.G.Three new homobifunctional reactive dyes, containing two chloroacetamide groups and fragment of 4, 4’-diaminostilbene-2, 2’-disulphonic acid have been synthesized. They were evaluated on cotton and wool. The degrees of exhaustion and fixation of the dyes have been assessed. It was established that the dyes are suitable for dyeing on wool by the method exhaustion and fixation at 70°C and for cotton, using cold pad-batch method at 20°C. The photostability of the dyes in solution was studied and it was found that the dyes had a good photostability and can be recommended.Item SYNTHESIS AND INVESTIGATION OF SOME BIS(DICHLOROTRIAZINE) REACTIVE DYES CONTAINING STABILIZER FRAGMENT(2023-01-01) Miladinova P.M.Three bis(dichlorotriazine)reactive dyes containing a residue of 4,4’-diaminostilbene-2,2’-disulfonic acid as bridging group between two identical chromophores were synthesized. The dyes were evaluated on cotton and compared to commercial dichlorotriazine dye C.I. Reactive dye 1. The degrees of exhaustion and fixation were assessed. The optical properties - L*, a*, b*, C*, and h* from the CIE Lab colour space of the resulting textile samples have been examined. The photostability of the dyes and dyed samples was investigated. As a result of the studies carried out it was found out that with all reactive dyes, textile samples with uniform colouring and similar colour shades were obtained. The introduction of stabilizer fragment in dye molecule increases the photostability with 20 - 25 %.Item Synthesis of a new pet based benzanthrone probe for determination of pH and cuprum (II) ION(2017-01-01) Miladinova P.M.; Zhekov D.D.; Georgiev N.I.The paper reports on the synthesis and fluorescence characteristics of a novel benzanthrone fluorophore. It is configured as a ``fluorophore-spacer-receptor`` system able to act as a pH-probe via PET fluorescence sensing mechanism. Due to the tertiary amine receptor the novel probe shows ``off-on`` switching properties under transition from alkaline to acid media (FE = 16.3). The ability of the probe to detect metal ions in water/DMF (1:1, v/v) is evaluated by monitoring the changes of its fluorescence intensity. The presence of cuprum ion (Cu2+) only, among the tested metal ions (Cd2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Fe3+, Ni2+, Hg2+, Zn2+ and Ag+), is efficiently detected by fluorescence quenching mechanism. Due to the remarkable fluorescence changes in the presence of protons, hydroxide anions and Cu2+ ions the novel probe is able to act as a disabled-INH logic gate at a molecular scale.
