Item An algorithm for metallurgical waste minimization(2014-02-25) Borisov D.; Stefanov B.; Stoyanov S.The selection of the optimal process that satisfies both environmental and economic objectives simultaneously is rather difficult. Identifying the optimum from set of objectives is depending of the preferences of decision makers. Successful and widespread implementation of existing methodologies for pollution prevention and waste minimization has failed to provide significant benefits for applications in metallurgical processes. One of the main reasons for this is the lack of a comprehensive approach that integrates and guides the application of the proper tool. The existing methodologies have been developed more general and for particular stages in the process and they require different detailed and accurate information which may not be available. An algorithm developed for waste minimization from metallurgical processes is presented in this paper. The methodology incorporates both environmental and economics criteria into the metallurgical processes in order to select the best alternative for waste material flow minimization. The proposed algorithm and described criteria can be used in multi criteria decision making during alternatives evaluation both new and technological modernization of existing metallurgical installation.Item MATHEMATICAL MODELING AND MULTICRITERIA OPTIMIZATION OF THE CERAMIC INDICATORS OF THE REFRACTORY LININGS OF STEEL FOUNDRY LADLES(2023-01-01) Borisov D.The ceramic properties of “Fosuk” type driving masses, used for the monolithic construction of the walls of the steel foundry ladles, strongly depend on the content of the clay substance and the temperatures of heat treatment. The subject of the present study is to determine the influence of two independent variables (process control parameters) on the quality indicators of the driving masses, used in the refractory lining of steel foundry ladles in metallurgy. In the present study, statistical evaluation of the driving masses indicators with three different Al2O3 contents was performed. The linear correlation between the quality indicators of driving masses in different combinations of two main independent variables has been studied. Multicriteria optimization of the generalized functions for three different quality indicators was performed in order to determine the optimal amount of Al2O3 (clay substance) and the temperature of the heat treatment of the inner lining of the steel foundry ladles.Item MULTI-CRITERIA STUDY OF THE QUALITY INDICATORS OF QUARTZ DRIVING MASSES BY FRACTIONAL-RATIONAL GENERALIZED FUNCTIONS(2023-01-01) Borisov D.Regression mathematical models of the second full order were obtained for six quality indicators (objective parameters) for driving masses type “Fosuk”. The adequacy of the obtained regression equations for the quality indicators was approved. The optimal values of amount of clay substance Al2O3, %, and temperature of heat treatment, °C, were determined. The lines of constant values for each of the quality indicators in the range of variation in amount of clay substance Al2O3 and heat treatment temperature are presented. A multi-criteria optimization based on arithmetic mean, geometric mean and harmonic mean functions of usefulness was performed. An analysis of strategies for multi-criteria decision-making using a fractional-rational generalized function of usefulness is carried out.Item Slag quantity minimization in the pyrometallurgical production of anode copper(2019-01-01) Borisov D.Approximate mathematical models, numerical data and graphical results of conducted virtual planned experiments on a verified analytical mathematical model are presented in this article. Two adequate approximating polynomial mathematical models have been developed that can be used to optimize the beneficial product (mate) and to minimize the quantities of industrial waste (slag) in the pyrometallurgical processes of flash smelting of sulphide copper raw materials. The proposed mathematical models allow finding a number of Pareto - optimal solutions for components in charge in the metallurgical processes of sulfide copper concentrates flash smelting, which provide requirements for a maximum amount of mate and a minimum amount of slag. The approximation models can be used for operational planning, product optimization, process control and minimization of waste material flows.
