dc.description.abstractThis paper concerns the application of control loop performance assessment and benchmarking techniques in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Current control work is compared to an optimal achievable or a best theoretical work of a control loop by means of Harris index and a generalized output index. System behaviour of a typical temperature loop is investigated for proportional, PI and PID controllers and a system with on-off control. Conclusions for the applicability of the proposed methodologies are made. Both indices are compared for the different control methodologies. Copyright © 2006 IFAC.
