Abstract
Composting is considered to be one of the most promising and effective solutions for achieving the minimization and recovery of municipal waste generated by large cities. In this connection, it is also one of the main directions of the collection systems in the contemporary management of the cities. The present communication reports results referring to the chemical composition of three types of compost prepared on the ground of different row materials. ``Home`` composting method is applied for producing two of the composts. The third one is produced in an industrial composting installation of a ``tunnel`` type. The content of nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, C, H, S), some microelements and heavy metals (Al, Co, Cu, Fe, Zn, Ni, Cd, Mn, Pb, Cr, As, Se, Sn, Bi, Sb) is determined. Parameters like pH, conductivity, bulk density, porosity and LOI are also examined.
